Paris Basketball End Dubai’s EuroLeague Winning Streak at the Coca-Cola Arena
Head Coach Xavi Pascual started the game with Wright, Mintz, Bacon, Petrušev and Kabengele.
Dubai opened the game with an early three-pointer from Davion Mintz in a fast-paced first quarter, featuring quick shots and plenty of three-pointers. The first significant run came from Mfiondu Kabengele, who continued his strong form with dunks, three-pointers and crucial plays to help Dubai make its first attempt at pulling away. The home team built a nine-point lead at one stage, but Paris fought back, with Jared Rhoden scoring nine points in the opening quarter to bring the score to 25–23 by the end of the first period.
The second quarter proved difficult for Dubai, as the team struggled to match Paris’ pace and find the basket, while the visitors scored more freely and built a 12-point lead. Musa and Shengelia helped Dubai respond towards the end of the first half, with a late three-pointer from the Bosnian bringing the deficit down to seven points at the break.
Dwayne Bacon stepped up for Dubai, scoring repeatedly as the home side worked its way back into the game and closed the gap to a single possession. Bacon and Kabengele then delivered a strong third quarter, bringing Dubai within touching distance of Paris. The Canadian had already recorded a double-double by the end of the third quarter, with Dubai trailing by just one point at 72–73.
Wright’s defensive intensity, Kabengele’s physical presence and Bacon’s scoring ability helped Dubai push for the lead in the final quarter. However, Paris responded to every challenge, with Rhoden and Hifi stepping up to keep the visitors ahead. Dubai fought until the final seconds, but Paris ultimately secured a 99–93 victory at the Coca-Cola Arena.
Dubai finished the game with two players recording double-doubles of more than 20 points. Dwayne Bacon contributed 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Mfiondu Kabengele finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Following the game, Head Coach Xavi Pascual commented: “We lost the game on defence. We can’t score 93 points and lose the game. We tried to come back, played well at times, but then we made simple mistakes that doomed us. Tarpey was a key to Paris’ victory. After two home losses, we need to get back to winning ways on Friday.”
Dubai will return to the Coca-Cola Arena in three days for the second EuroLeague game of the week against Hapoel Tel Aviv.
